My name is Peter Kasii Murmet, known to many across the airwaves as Peter Dio, a radio presenter with Sidai Media Group—the voice that reaches thousands of Maa-speaking families across Kenya and Tanzania.
But long before I had a microphone,Before I was called “presenter,”Before I had a platform...I was just a barefoot boy from Sitoka, chasing an impossible dream.
I Know What It Means to Be Forgotten
In our village, school wasn’t a building—it was a tree. We had no books, no desks, no pens. We used sticks to scratch our lessons into the dirt. When it rained, learning stopped. When hunger struck, it lasted
all day.
In 2004, from a class of many, only eight of us made it to high school. Only eight.
The rest—my sisters, brothers, neighbors—were lost to early marriage, poverty, or silence. We were just children. And yet, we carried a weight far too heavy for our age.
Our nearest school was 90 kilometers away. We walked without shoes. No lunch. No shortcut.
Just dusty roads, tired legs, and the fragile hope that maybe… education could change our lives.
It did.
From Being Voiceless… to Becoming a Voice
Today, I speak to thousands on the radio—but I never forget the ones still unheard.
Being the champion and voice of the voiceless, I am motivated not just to highlight, but to act.
That is why I founded The Siria Hills Climate-Talent Initiative. Not for fame. Not for funding. But to fulfill a promise:
That no child from my village should ever walk 90 kilometers for an education. That no girl should ever be forced to marry because there was no school to protect her dream.
We Are Building More Than a School—We Are Building Hope
On three hectares of sacred Maasai land, something powerful is rising:🧱 Kimintet Sidai Academy🌱 A tree nursery for climate resilience💻 An ICT & innovation hub⛪ A chapel for healing and hope🧒 A home for every child who dares to dream
This is not charity. This is community. This is legacy.
